Microsoft AI wants all its employees to be AI native by the end of the fiscal year, says VP of design Liz Danzico | Fortune
"We created a goal for our organization-that every person in the studio will become AI-native by the end of the fiscal year,"
"feeling more satisfied and energized about the possibilities with AI."
"experimenting with multiple [AI] tools."
"For diverse ideas to make it out, people have to feel safe to voice them, so [it is key to] make sure that that psychological safety is there,"
Microsoft AI is just over a year old and manages consumer AI products including Copilot, which runs on OpenAI large language models. Not all studio staff started as AI-native, so the organization set a goal for every person in the studio to become AI-native by the end of the fiscal year and developed an in-house AI course for roughly 8,000 to 9,000 employees. Early responses have been positive, with AI appearing in products and internal communications and employees reporting greater satisfaction and less fear after experimenting with AI tools. Leadership emphasizes psychological safety and creativity, and Microsoft partnered with the AFL-CIO to educate labor union workers and include them in AI rollout decisions.
