Robby Starbuck filed a defamation lawsuit against Google after the company's AI allegedly generated links to non-existent news articles that falsely accused him of rape, sexual assault, murder, fraud, stalking, and drug charges. The AI reportedly cited fabricated articles purportedly from outlets such as Mediaite, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, the New York Post, Salon, and the Daily Beast and provided clickable URLs that created the impression of authentic reporting. In one alleged instance the AI claimed Starbuck was a person of interest in a 1991 murder when he was two years old. Starbuck says none of the allegations are true and that users have no reason to doubt the AI without knowing his biography or age.
