Jony Ive says Rabbit and Humane made bad products
Briefly

Jony Ive recently announced a $6.5 billion collaboration on AI hardware with OpenAI, reflecting on past failures in the space, particularly the Humane AI Pin and Rabbit R1 device. He criticized these products as lacking innovation and functionality, echoing concerns from initial reviews. Meanwhile, Humane has ceased operations following its acquihire by HP, while Rabbit R1 continues to develop despite reduced enthusiasm. The company recently introduced a memory log feature and a free trial of its upgraded operating system, indicating ongoing efforts to enhance its AI capabilities.
There have been public failures as well, such as the Humane AI Pin and the Rabbit R1 personal assistant device. Those were very poor products.
Humane, which, like io, was lead by former Apple employees, has already disappeared into the mist of an acquihire by HP and shut down all AI Pins in February.
The Rabbit R1 is still going, even if its LAM hype, promises, and momentum appear to have dissipated.
...the company added a memory log that can help its AI assistant have context for interactions, and it's offering a free trial of Intern.
