""Widespread access to advanced AI models is essential to building the efficient, accountable government that taxpayers deserve - and to fulfilling President [Donald] Trump's promise that America will win the global AI race," said Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum in a press release. "We value xAI for partnering with GSA - and dedicating engineers - to accelerate the adoption of Grok to transform government operations.""
""xAI has the most powerful AI compute and most capable AI models in the world. Thanks to President Trump and his administration, xAI's frontier AI is now unlocked for every federal agency empowering the U.S. government to innovate faster and accomplish its mission more effectively than ever before" said Musk, xAI's cofounder. "We look forward to continuing to work with President Trump and his team to rapidly deploy AI throughout the government for the benefit of the country.""
Grok AI, the chatbot owned by xAI, will be offered to federal agencies through the Government Services Administration's OneGov strategy, which treats the federal government as a single buyer. The offering will support workloads across all federal entities for $0.42 and remains available for federal operations until March 2027, marking the longest OneGov AI contract term to date. The agreement provides an upgrade path to higher FedRAMP and Department of Defense impact levels for approval of Grok on custom workloads. Other firms on OneGov include OpenAI, Microsoft, Oracle and Amazon. Federal Acquisition Service leadership and xAI leadership praised the partnership and deployment plans. Musk previously served 130 days as a special government employee and de facto head of the Department of Government Efficiency.
