Google Testing Links In Recipe AI Overviews
"These recipe AI Overviews linked to entities that then load a hybrid knowledge panel with an AI Overviews. Tom Critchlow spotted this and wrote on LinkedIn, "Huh. Seeing a whole new kind of search result inside of AI Mode. Linked entities that then load a kind of hybrid knowledge panel / SERP - with an AI Overview at the top of course...." He shared a number of screenshots, here are two:"
"Tom reached out about this the other day and we haven't been able to recreate yet. It is an interesting very ackward test. On one hand there are links (yay!) but you have to click from a full Frankenstein default recipe in some cases he showed me to open the link knowledge panel."
Google is testing links within AI Overviews that lead to additional AI Overview responses tied to entities. Recipe AI Overviews can link to entities which then load a hybrid knowledge panel topped by an AI Overview. Tom Critchlow shared screenshots showing linked entities opening hybrid knowledge panels or SERP-like pages. Adam Gallagher of Inspired Taste reports the test is awkward and not yet reproducible; links sometimes require clicking from a full Frankenstein default recipe to access the linked knowledge panel. Publishers consider Frankenstein-derived results unacceptable, but the appearance of links is a small step toward more publisher-friendly search results. Bing has implemented clearer publisher-friendly steps.
