Google Testing AI Overviews Show More Button That Jumps Into AI Mode
"Google is testing having the "Show More" button within AI Overviews jump you directly into AI Mode as opposed to loading more of the AI Overview beneath it. This appears to be a test, as I am unable to replicate it. Normally, when you click the show more button under the AI Overview, it loads more text, with a carousel of citations. This test bypasses the text and citations and jumps you into AI Mode, which is obviously not great for publishers."

Google is testing a behavior change where the 'Show More' button in mobile AI Overviews jumps users directly into AI Mode instead of expanding the overview and showing citations. The change bypasses additional text and the carousel of citations that normally appears under the AI Overview. The test was spotted in Canada and shared by Harpreet and Brodie Clark via videos on X. The change could not be replicated locally, indicating a limited rollout or A/B test. The direct jump into AI Mode reduces visibility of publisher content and citations. The behavior suggests deeper integration of AI Mode into Search.
