Google has officially confirmed that AI Mode data will now be counted in Google Search Console. This new feature, which became fully live in the US, integrates user queries, impressions, and clicks into the standard Search Console metrics. AI Mode enhances user interaction by organizing questions into subtopics and providing deeper resources. Google updated its documentation to reflect these changes, including the methodology for counting impressions and clicks in AI Mode, though it does not segregate this data from standard metrics.
If a user asks a follow-up question within AI Mode, they are essentially performing a new query. All impression, position, and click data in the new response are counted as coming from this new user query.
AI Mode expands on AI Overviews to show a more interactive AI-powered response with links to web resources that support the information or direct the user to view relevant webpages.
