The rapid advancement of AI in design sparks concerns about its potential impact on critical thinking skills and creative roles. As tools like ChatGPT and Bolt refine their capabilities, designers risk becoming overly reliant, executing tasks with less original thought. There’s worry that these systems may soon handle complex design challenges while personalizing user experiences. Although these technologies promise efficiency, questions remain about the loss of the human element in design and how this may echo the fate of niche industries resisting technological change.
I worry that using AI in design will kill my critical thinking capabilities and turn me into a copy and paste machine.
I also worry that tools like Bolt, Loveable, Windsurf, and AI features from Figma indicate a future where AI systems can create interfaces that meet both user and business needs.
