FBI: This is how China uses AI in attack chains
Briefly

According to Cynthia Kaiser, the FBI Deputy Assistant Director, China represents a significant threat to America's critical infrastructure, with government-backed crews increasingly using AI to enhance cyberattack efficiency. Recent examples include cyber espionage campaigns by groups like Volt Typhoon and Salt Typhoon that have compromised numerous US systems and telecommunications. Kaiser noted these intruders often exploit unpatched vulnerabilities to gain access and navigate internal networks quietly, raising concerns about the ongoing, sophisticated nature of these cyber threats from China.
The ongoing threat from Beijing-backed digital intruders burrowing into America's critical facilities likely isn't a huge shock to anyone who can name at least two of the Typhoons that have come to light.
These and other agents working on behalf of the Chinese government break into American networks through "unsophisticated means, or especially end-of-life devices," Kaiser told The Register.
