Audible has introduced an "integrated AI narration technology" that enables publishers to produce audiobooks using over 100 AI-generated voices in various languages. This move is seen as a significant threat to voice actors, particularly as they seek protections against AI in the industry. Audible also offers improved royalty rates for exclusive AI-generated content and plans to roll out an AI translation feature. CEO Bob Carrigan emphasized the potential of AI to broaden audiobook accessibility globally, reflecting a shift in the publishing and audio industries.
