EU will put over $200 billion toward AI development

At the AI Action Summit in Paris, the European Union unveiled a significant investment plan of €200 billion towards advancing artificial intelligence. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reassured that Europe is not lagging behind the competition with the US and China. The investment includes €20 billion specifically for AI gigafactories to develop large model processing. Concurrently, France announced its private sector will inject €109 billion into its AI ecosystem, showcasing its commitment to AI innovations and infrastructure development through significant energy resources.
"The frontier is constantly moving, leadership is still up for grabs, and behind the frontier is the whole world of AI adoption," von der Leyen stated.
"Bringing AI to industry-specific applications and harnessing its power for productivity and for people, and this is where Europe can truly lead the race."
