Epilepsy AI tool detects brain lesions doctors miss
Briefly

Researchers at UK institutions created an AI tool capable of identifying two-thirds of epilepsy-related brain lesions that are usually missed by human radiologists. This tool could lead to more effective surgeries for patients with uncontrolled seizures caused by subtle brain abnormalities. Conducted across 23 hospitals worldwide, the research found that the AI tool, MELD Graph, analyzes MRI scans with greater detail and speed than doctors do. Despite its promising capabilities, the tool still requires human oversight and further studies to assess long-term patient benefits before clinical use can be implemented.
