Disney signed a three-year partnership with OpenAI and is making a $1 billion equity investment. Sora allows users to create short videos using simple prompts. The agreement licenses more than 200 animated, masked, and creature characters from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars, including costumes, props, and vehicles. Users can access characters such as Mickey Mouse, Ariel, Belle, Simba, and heroes and villains from Marvel and Lucasfilm through Sora and ChatGPT Images. The agreement excludes talent likenesses and voices. Disney will become a major OpenAI customer and will use OpenAI APIs to build new products, tools, and Disney+ experiences.
