Anthropic and OpenAI will donate projects to the Linux Foundation's new Agentic AI Foundation (AIFF). The AIFF will function as a neutral, open foundation for open source agentic AI projects and provide tools, standards, and community-driven innovation. Founding backers include Anthropic, OpenAI, AWS, Cloudflare, Google, Block, and Bloomberg. Anthropic will donate the Model Context Protocol (MCP) open standards project and commit to keeping it open, neutral, and community-driven. MCP connects AI models to external tools, applications, and data and has been adopted by multiple major platforms, with over 10,000 MCP servers operating.
