Amazon CEO: AI Will Reduce Workforce, Take Corporate Jobs | Entrepreneur
Briefly

Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy announced a reduction in the corporate workforce as AI takes over various tasks. In a memo, he highlighted that the company is currently developing over 1,000 AI applications to enhance operations, including warehouse efficiency and customer service. While AI streamlines processes, it implies fewer human roles will be needed. Jassy encouraged staff to adapt by embracing AI through training to remain valuable in a changing landscape, indicating a shift in job types rather than an outright elimination of roles.
"We will need fewer people doing some of the jobs that are being done today, and more people doing other types of jobs," Jassy wrote in the memo.
Jassy advised employees to attend workshops and trainings on AI, to use the technology whenever possible, and to tap into AI to get more done with smaller teams.
Amazon is already using or building over 1,000 generative AI services and applications, 'a small fraction' of what the e-commerce giant will ultimately create.
Jassy noted that AI has also allowed Amazon to put together more detailed product pages on its site.
