"Within ten years, we might interact with robots and feel like they are almost human; maybe in 20 years, they could wal"
AheadForm, a Hangzhou-based robotics company, revealed a humanoid robotic head that expresses emotions through extremely subtle facial movements. A viral video shows the face glancing around with a quizzical expression and eyes blinking in a lifelike way. AheadForm says it combines "self-supervised AI algorithms" and wide-range "bionic actuation" to express authentic emotions and lifelike facial expressions. The company claims to have developed "ultra-lifelike" humanoid "elves" that can perceive the world, communicate, learn, and interact intelligently using an advanced AI learning algorithm. Social media responses compared the demo to Westworld. Founder Hu Yuhang predicted near-human interactions within ten years.
