When Cosmos Magazine announced it would no longer accept written submissions from freelancers, it left many contributors, including me, bewildered and disheartened. We had transitioned to writing for them with the assumption that our jobs were secure, only to be replaced with a 'custom AI service' that generated articles without our consent.
It feels like a significant breach of trust. Contributors and freelancers, who had poured their hearts into their work, were not informed that a robot would be taking over the very tasks they cherished. This situation showcases the detrimental effects of prioritizing cost efficiency over reliable human insights in journalism.
