Caryn Marjorie, a 25-year-old influencer known as @CutieCaryn, launched an AI chatbot inspired by ChatGPT to engage her fans on a deeper level. By releasing her phone number to fans, she quickly received over 2,000 text messages. She developed Caryn AI, a virtual girlfriend service, applying a chatbot that mimicked her likeness. Charging $1 a minute, she made $70,000 in the first week. However, despite early excitement and some feelings of love from fans, the connection with Caryn AI didn’t last as expected.
