Odegaard retains captaincy by '100 miles' - Arteta
Briefly

Martin Odegaard has been confirmed as Arsenal's captain for the season following a unanimous vote from players and staff. Manager Mikel Arteta emphasized the strong support for Odegaard, stating that he was the clear choice among all members. Despite being captain since 2022, Odegaard has yet to lead the team to a trophy, with Arsenal finishing second in their last three league campaigns. The club has invested around £190 million this summer in hopes of achieving major success, including new signings like striker Viktor Gyokeres and midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
Well my opinion is clear and it's not just my opinion, it's all the staff and especially the players. I asked them to vote the captain and I got the result yesterday. And by a mile, by a big, big 100 miles, everybody choosing the same person, which is Martin Odegaard, and which is the most clear sign that you can have.
Midfielder Odegaard has been Arsenal captain since 2022, but his side have not managed to win a trophy during that time, finishing second in the last three league campaigns.
The Gunners have spent around 190m this summer as they look to land a major trophy for the first time since they lifted the FA Cup in 2020.
We're going to do everything, added the Spaniard, who will also have 60m midfielder Martin Zubimendi fit for Arsenal's visit to Manchester United.
