Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are unlikely to return before the March international break due to injuries. Saka is recovering from surgery on a torn hamstring, while Martinelli has a less severe injury. Both players' absence has weakened Arsenal's attack, failing to score in their last two matches. Arteta expressed cautious optimism about their potential return in April, but noted the need for gradual reintegration after prolonged absences.
Arteta stated, "I don't think so, no," when asked if Saka and Martinelli might return before the international break, emphasizing the uncertainty around their conditions.
"Let's see how they evolve in the next few weeks to make the right steps... They've been out for a long, long time, so we're going to have to integrate them as well, probably gradually," Arteta explained.
Arteta mentioned, "Probably a chance before Bukayo to come in, but how soon that is, we'll have to see how it goes in the next week or ten days."
Discussing player updates, Arteta said, "Nwaneri was cramping from minute 45, so we stretched him as much as we possibly could but we cannot let that go on longer."
