Espanyol's sporting director, Fran Garagarza, has revealed that goalkeeper Joan Garcia, a target for Arsenal, could be sold for reasonable offers this summer, not just exceeding his release clause. Arsenal previously attempted to secure Garcia but were rejected with a bid of £20m. With Neto's loan ending, Arsenal is poised to renew their interest in Garcia. Garagarza stated that the club would consider earlier bids that are close to the release clause. Garcia himself is open to leaving to advance his career and assist Espanyol financially as they struggle near relegation.
Is it clause or nothing? No. In the summer window, with a call from Arsenal in the last week, it has to be that [clause]. But if you get an offer on June 14 that isn't the clause but is close in fixed and variable amounts, Espanyol are not going to say no.
We can't say no. If a club comes with 8m for Joan Garcia, that's a bad sale, 100%. But the important thing is to know what we would do with that money.
