Apple has agreed to a $95 million settlement regarding a class-action lawsuit about privacy issues caused by unintentional activations of Siri. Purchasers of Siri-enabled devices from 2014 to 2024 can claim up to $100, and the claims process is being facilitated through emails sent by the settlement administrator. Apple has previously apologized for privacy concerns related to Siri, and eligible claimants must submit proof of purchase by July 2, or risk missing out on compensation.
Eligible parties can receive up to $100 - or up to $20 per device for five devices - on Siri-enabled Apple products purchased between September 17, 2014 and December 31, 2024.
Apple issued a rare apology in 2019 after The Guardian reported that its contractors frequently overheard portions of private conversations while reviewing Siri recordings for quality control.
