You may not need Apple Pay to tap and pay with your EU iPhone soon

The European Commission accused Apple of abusing its dominant position in mobile wallets, alleging Apple favored Apple Pay over third-party apps' access to NFC hardware.
Apple proposed to grant EU developers access to NFC, Face ID, and the ability to set third-party apps as the default payment option, with approval expected in May.
The proposal, if accepted, will be in effect for 10 years, although Apple has not indicated if similar changes will apply outside the EU.
