The iPhone naming convention is convoluted, not following chronological order. The 'iPhone 15' is actually the 'iPhone 17' or 'iPhone 18' depending on interpretation.
Only two iPhone names, the original iPhone and iPhone 4, align chronologically. The rest are haphazardly named, adding to the confusion.
