Apple expanded the release of the Hikawa Grip & Stand for iPhone, a MagSafe accessory designed by Los Angeles artist and industrial designer Bailey Hikawa. The accessory supports users with limited grip strength, dexterity, and mobility. It attaches magnetically to MagSafe compatible iPhones and can also act as a stand in both portrait and landscape orientations. The enlarged sculptural form includes soft contours and finger grooves, offering multiple holding positions to reduce strain during extended smartphone use. The design was developed with consultation from people living with disabilities affecting hand control and muscle strength. It is made from soft touch silicone and comes in saturated finishes such as Glow Blue, Orange Swirl, and Speckled Stone.
"Apple has expanded the release of the Hikawa Grip & Stand for iPhone, an accessibility focused MagSafe accessory designed by Los Angeles artist and industrial designer Bailey Hikawa to support users with limited grip strength, dexterity, and mobility. Originally launched in limited quantities in 2025, the device sold out immediately and is now available more broadly through Apple's online store following continued demand and renewed attention around inclusive product design."
"Rather than functioning as a typical phone grip, the Hikawa Grip & Stand rethinks how the smartphone physically interacts with the hand. Its enlarged sculptural form introduces soft contours, finger grooves, and multiple holding positions intended to reduce strain and accommodate a wider range of mobility needs than the flat rectangular form of the smartphone typically allows."
"The accessory magnetically attaches to MagSafe compatible iPhones and can also function as a stand in both portrait and landscape orientations. Developed in consultation with people living with disabilities affecting hand control and muscle strength, the object addresses the everyday physical effort involved in stabilizing and operating a smartphone over extended periods of time."
"Visually, the design sits somewhere between adaptive tool and sculptural object. Produced in soft touch silicone, the grip is available in highly saturated finishes including Glow Blue, Orange Swirl, and Speckled Stone, with oversized forms that prioritize tactility and visibility over minimalism. The result contrasts sharply with the sleek neutrality that has historically defined mainstream consumer electronics accessories."
