Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone SE 4, a budget smartphone expected to be unveiled shortly. Industry expert Mark Gurman indicated that the device will hit the shelves later this month at a price point around $500. The iPhone SE 4 aims to modernize Apple's lower-cost offerings, drawing consumers from competitors. Significant design changes include the removal of the home button, aligning the device visually more with the iPhone 14, while incorporating new AI features. This will be the first update to the SE line in three years since the SE 3's release in 2022.
The removal of the home button from the iPhone SE means that Apple will have fully phased out the iconic interface, which debuted on the first iPhone in 2007.
Apple expects to announce the device as early as next week, ahead of it going on sale later in the month.
