EU iPhones will be able to change the default phone and messaging apps soon
Briefly

Apple is expanding user freedom in the EU by allowing iPhone and iPad users to select default apps for various functions, enhancing customization.
From later this year, users will access a new 'Default Apps' section in Settings, adjusting defaults for calls, messaging, keyboards, and more.
Next spring, Apple aims to expand these choices further by including navigation, translation, and call spam filter apps, along with app deletion options.
In a bid for transparency, users with Safari set as default will need to scroll through options when selecting alternate browsers, improving choice.
