Billions of iPhone users at risk of dangerous malware attack - newly-found flaw warning issued
Briefly

Cybersecurity experts have identified a significant vulnerability in Apple's AirPlay protocol that could enable hackers to infiltrate devices connected to the same WiFi network. Dubbed 'AirBorne,' this flaw allows malware deployment and data snooping, particularly in public locations. Users are advised to update their devices and consider disabling AirPlay when not in use to prevent unauthorized access. The vulnerability extends beyond Apple devices to various third-party gadgets, many of which may not receive timely patches, leaving them at risk.
“Because AirPlay is supported in such a wide variety of devices, there are a lot that will take years to patch - or they will never be patched,” Gal Elbaz, chief technology officer and cofounder of Tel Aviv-based cybersecurity firm Oligo, told Wired.
“And it's all because of vulnerabilities in one piece of software that affects everything.”
Users are advised to update all devices to the latest software, especially those connected to AirPlay.
Devices you're not actively using - like that Bluetooth speaker collecting dust - could be another gateway for hackers.
