Apple TV+ increased its monthly subscription price in the UK to £9.99 and in the US to $12.99, while annual subscriptions remain at £89 per year. New users face the higher monthly price immediately; existing subscribers will be charged the increased amount 30 days after their next renewal. The service now offers hundreds of Apple Originals and thousands of hours of ad-free programming with weekly new releases. Paid subscriber estimates range from about 25 million to roughly 45 million, and reports indicate losses exceeding $1 billion annually despite recent hit shows. Streaming prices across platforms are trending upward.
"Since its launch, Apple TV+ has expanded its deep library of hundreds of Apple Originals, with thousands of hours of premium programming across genres and brand-new releases weekly all ad-free," a spokesperson said.
"The streaming business is following the traditional pay TV world with annual price rises," Paolo Pescatore, technology analyst at PP Foresight, told the BBC. "We should get accustomed to these price rises, as streamers seek to broaden their diversified programming portfolio."
