Apple to start allowing iPhone repairs with used parts
Briefly

Apple plans to begin supporting iPhone repairs with used parts this fall, including screens, batteries, and biometric sensors for Face and Touch ID. It will make changes to parts pairing, removing most of the complications previously faced during repairs.
Certified used parts can be installed in iPhones without the need to call Apple for activation, unless the logic board is changed. This aims to enhance customer convenience and extend product lifespan.
Apple's SVP of hardware engineering, John Ternus, highlighted the goal of adding more choice and convenience for customers through the repair program expansion, in line with the company's sustainability efforts.
