"Apple touts strong user privacy protections for its ads rollout. Per the press release: Ads on Maps builds on Apple's broader privacy-first approach to advertising, and maintains the same privacy protections Maps users enjoy today. A user's location and the ads they see and interact with in Maps are not associated with a user's Apple Account. Personal data stays on a user's device, is not collected or stored by Apple, and is not shared with third parties."
"Ads are built into the recently revamped Apple Business platform. So if you run a business and want to promote it in Apple Maps, you can do so through your Apple Business account."
iOS 26.5 adds compatibility for ads in Apple Maps in the US and Canada, with a formal launch planned for this summer. When ads go live, they will appear in two locations: one ad at the top of search results and one ad within the search panel’s “Suggested Places.” Apple states these are the only two places ads will appear. Ads will be visually marked with a subtle blue background and explicitly labeled with the word “Ad.” Apple positions the rollout as privacy-first, stating that a user’s location and ad interactions are not associated with an Apple Account, personal data stays on the device, and Apple does not collect, store, or share personal data with third parties. Businesses can run promotions through Apple Business.
