"Which? asserts that this has led to consumers being overcharged each year through their monthly iCloud subscription fees."
" favouring its own cloud storage services "
"significant milestone in the battle for more choice in the consumer cloud market"
A three-day court hearing began to decide whether Which? should be granted permission by the Competition Appeal Tribunal to act as a class representative in a claim against Apple. Which? alleges Apple has locked millions of UK consumers into iCloud through technical restrictions, has favoured its own cloud storage services on iOS devices, and has made it difficult to switch to alternatives. Which? filed the complaint in November 2024 and seeks £3bn in compensation for 41 million UK users it says were overcharged annually via iCloud subscriptions. Apple dismissed the claim on the first day of the hearing.
