This New Uber Setting Makes International Rides Cost More-Here's How to Turn It Off
Briefly

Uber has introduced a feature called Preferred Currency Pricing which allows users to pay rides in their home currency while abroad, incurring a flat 1.5% conversion fee. While this feature can make fare amounts clearer, it may actually cost users more if their payment method already offers free currency conversion. Conversely, for users with cards that have foreign transaction fees, Uber's feature may save them money. Travelers are advised to check with their banks or card providers to determine the best payment option.
If you choose to pay in the local currency, your bank or payment method provider may charge a conversion fee higher or lower than 1.5 percent and additional foreign transaction fees may apply.
By keeping your preferred currency as your home currency, you'll pay the same fare for rides as the local currency. Prices of the rides will be shown in your home currency, with a fixed 1.5 percent conversion fee.
