The kindness of strangers: I was injured and using crutches, when a group of scary teens offered to help me
Briefly

After an ankle injury that left the author on crutches for months, daily challenges emerged, especially in navigating life with mobility issues. Initially wary of a group of local teenagers known for mischief, the author's perspective shifted dramatically. Instead of mockery, the teens offered genuine help, assisting with errands and everyday tasks. This unexpected kindness led to a meaningful relationship, culminating in gratitude as the author approached recovery. The experience underscored the power of compassion, especially from those previously judged by their actions.

The last time I saw the teenagers was... at the end of my time on crutches I thanked them personally. I wrote to their schools to say they deserved recognition.
