Stellantis has recalled about 21,096 PHEVs due to a potential brake pedal collapse, advising drivers to use the parking brake for controlled stops if necessary.
If the brake pedal collapses, Stellantis recommends using the Electronic Park Brake; however, this may be difficult in emergency situations when quick response is needed.
The Automatic Emergency Braking system may assist in preventing collisions if activated, but concerns linger over the reliability of this feature during critical moments.
The recall affects approximately 44,000 vehicles globally, highlighting serious production issues at the Stellantis Pomigliano plant, and includes 15 known cases of brake pedal failures.
