A YouTuber transformed a broken hoverboard into a solar-powered go-kart, using a solar panel and charge controller to power it. Initially, the solar panel was attached to a backpack, but that didn’t work out. The final design used a go-kart seat and PVC pipes, allowing for better control. While the prototype is fun and functional in sunny conditions, it lacks power during cloudy weather, limiting its practicality. The project highlights creativity in recycling and offers a nostalgic DIY experience reminiscent of childhood builds.
Unfortunately, no sun means no power.
Smith Off-Grid zip-tied the solar panel onto a backpack... that failed, so he came up with a more clever solution: using a cheap go-kart seat.
It looks silly, yes. But it's also the kind of thing that I would have loved to build when I was a kid.
You can think of it as the poor man's Aptera-just don't expect to take it on a road trip anytime soon.
