Rivian announced the construction of a 1.2 million-square foot supplier park in Normal, Illinois, supported by $16 million in state incentives. The company will invest nearly $120 million in the project, expected to create about 100 new jobs. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker highlighted that this facility will foster an entire ecosystem for EV manufacturing, enhancing the supply chain. The park, featuring an underground tunnel for easy parts transfer, aims to facilitate production for Rivian's upcoming R2 vehicle and boost output for existing models, including the R1T and R1S.
Rivian's investment in the new facility will create "an entire ecosystem" that will help attract global investment and create jobs, while strengthening the EV manufacturing supply chain.
The supplier park will be a "key enabler" in the production of Rivian's upcoming R2 vehicle.
