MTA’s latest investment in 265 new zero-emission buses marks a significant step towards achieving a fully electric bus fleet by 2040, aligning with state emissions reduction goals.
The buses utilize advanced electric traction drive systems to recover 90 percent of energy during braking, underscoring the efficiency and environmental benefits of electric public transport.
In conjunction with NYPA, the MTA is enhancing infrastructure with electric bus charging stations. This includes innovative automated pantographs, aimed to enhance the efficiency of the charging process.
The new Jamaica Bus Depot is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring a green roof and noise barriers to address local residents' concerns while promoting energy efficiency.
