The operational failure of hydrogen buses in Poznań was attributed to poor quality hydrogen supplied by an external provider. On March 3rd, 23 out of 25 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses malfunctioned simultaneously after receiving new fuel. An independent study revealed contamination levels, including excessive carbon monoxide, which did not meet regulatory standards. Krzysztof Dostatni, CEO of MPK Poznań, stated the responsibility lies with the supplier and thanked Solaris for their quick recovery efforts. Ongoing actions aim to cleanse the buses of contaminated hydrogen and restore their functionality, with costs to be covered by the supplier.
The malfunction of the hydrogen buses in Poznań was due to the fault of the hydrogen supplier, who provided fuel with incorrect parameters.
Independent research confirmed the hydrogen was contaminated, with carbon monoxide content significantly exceeding acceptable standards.
