The technical investigation report from the BEA-TT concluded that the fires in RATP’s e-buses were primarily caused by thermal runaway in the battery manufacturing process.
The BEA-TT highlighted that the high-voltage batteries developed by Blue Solutions function at an internal temperature of 80°C, indicating a critical need for vigilance in manufacturing processes.
After the fire incidents, 148 Bluebus electric buses were withdrawn from circulation, and due to ongoing safety concerns, an additional 232 vehicles were taken out of service.
The findings of the BEA-TT led to a recall of the batteries used in the affected buses, showing the urgency in addressing manufacturing defects.
