Your OB-GYN might be feeding you outdated menopause information
Briefly

In light of recent research, the perception surrounding hormone therapy for menopausal women is shifting. While earlier studies suggested significant risks of heart disease and breast cancer, new findings indicate that many women, especially those under 60, can benefit from hormone therapy for symptom relief and bone health. However, educational gaps remain as a majority of OB-GYN residents feel unprepared to manage menopause, leading to a lack of proper guidance for patients experiencing varied symptoms during this transitional phase.
"It's such an uphill battle to not just teach people about it, but to undo all the damage of the last 20+ years," Deborah Gomez Kwolek of Mass General Women's Health and Sex and Gender Medicine Program tells Axios.
"You're not crazy. There are so many different symptoms and they manifest in different ways and at different times of life." - Nora Lansen, Primary Care Physician and Elektra's Chief Medical Officer.
