Rural areas in the U.S. have approximately 17.58 million residents experiencing depression, yet they often lack adequate mental health support. A survey by Rural Minds revealed that 69% of rural Pennsylvania residents have faced depression symptoms or concerns for others. Barriers include confidentiality issues, fewer providers, and distance to services. While 76% are aware of talk therapy and 68% of pharmacological treatments, awareness of alternative therapies like digital therapeutics is low, with only 17% and 11% respectively.
