""We don't call it a restaurant," Rodrigues tells Travel + Leisure"
""I brought my Brazil to my backyard," she told T+L."
""The food [in Minas Gerais] is recognized all over the world because it's very traditional. It's like mom's food, grandma's food. People travel from the Northern and Southern parts of the country to try the food.""
Regina Rodrigues purchases hundreds of pounds of food and supplies each Saturday morning to prepare a communal four-hour meal for up to 150 people in her backyard farm. The farm operates as an outdoor nonprofit close to downtown Fort Lauderdale and includes chickens, rabbits, and homegrown herbs and vegetables. The menu reflects traditional dishes inspired by Minas Gerais, Brazil, with some meats pre-marinated and most cooking happening on Saturday. The experience runs seasonally, closes in July and August, expanded after viral videos, and currently has reservations booked through 2029. Around 13 helpers assist with cooking, serving, and logistics.
