Sources: Milan agree fee for Chelsea's Nkunku
Briefly

AC Milan have agreed to sign Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea for €42 million, with Chelsea set to receive a percentage of any future transfer. Nkunku, 27, is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and must still pass a medical and agree personal terms. The move follows a difficult two years after a £52 million transfer from RB Leipzig in 2023, which included a serious preseason knee injury that limited his first season to 11 Premier League appearances. Nkunku struggled for starts under Enzo Maresca last season and was omitted from Chelsea's opening Premier League squads. The transfer would free Chelsea to pursue other targets such as Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons.

Initially signed as the solution to the club's lack of a proven goalscorer, he sustained a serious knee injury during a preseason fixture against Borussia Dortmund shortly after joining, eventually going on to make only 11 Premier League appearances in his first season. He struggled for starts in the league last season under Maresca with most of his appearances coming in cup competitions and in the club's successful Conference League campaign.
