AC Milan completed the permanent signing of 19-year-old German defender David Uyoyo Odogu from VfL Wolfsburg for around €10m. The defender has signed until 30 June 2029, with an option to extend to 30 June 2030. Odogu made his Wolfsburg first-team debut in April 2025 and has three senior appearances. Born in Berlin on 3 June 2006, he progressed through the Union Berlin and Wolfsburg academies. Odogu has international youth success, having won the 2023 U17 EUROs and the 2023 U17 World Cup with Germany. He will wear the number 27 shirt and is expected initially to be a squad option.
Igli Tare said Milan are looking to sign an experienced defender in the last days of the mercato, but after failing in their pursuit of Manuel Akanji (who ended up joining Inter) and Joe Gomez (who ended up staying at Liverpool), they signed an incredibly inexperienced defender.
"Milan is delighted to announce the permanent signing of David Uyoyo Odogu from VfL Wolfsburg. The German defender has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2029, with the option of extending the contract until 30 June 2030," a statement reads.
Odogu has played for Germany's youth sides, winning the 2023 U17 EUROs and the 2023 U17 World Cup with his nation.
