Milan appoint Tare as sporting director after dismal season - Soccer News
Briefly

AC Milan has appointed Igli Tare as the new sporting director, marking a significant step in the club's efforts to recover from a disappointing eighth-place finish in Serie A, lacking European competition for the first time since 2019. Tare, a veteran with 15 years of experience at Lazio, will aim to strategize a new direction for Milan, with one of his initial responsibilities likely involving the recruitment of a new head coach, as current coach Sergio Conceicao faces dismissal after underwhelming results.
"We are pleased to welcome Tare to the Rossoneri family. He is the right person to kick-off our reset," Milan chief executive Giorgio Furlani said in a statement.
Tare spent 15 years as sporting director at Lazio before departing in 2023, overseeing a period that included three Coppa Italia titles and three Supercoppa Italiana triumphs.
One of Tare's first tasks could be to source a new head coach, with Sergio Conceicao expected to be relieved of his duties after just six months at the helm.
AC Milan finished eighth in Serie A and missed out on European qualification for the first time since 2019, signaling a need for significant change.
