Jasper Philipsen to defend Milan-San Remo title despite Nokere Koerse crash
Briefly

Jasper Philipsen, the defending champion of Milan-San Remo, is set to compete despite suffering injuries in a crash during the Nokere Koerse race. After crashing with just a kilometre to go, Philipsen was taken for medical checks; however, his Alpecin-Deceuninck team confirmed his participation in the upcoming race. While he is eager to defend his title, Philipsen acknowledged that his injuries, including abrasions and stitches, may affect his performance. He is set to support the team, particularly if he isn't feeling strong in the final stages of the race.
Philipsen, had no time to react when he fell, coming down hard on to his right side. His kit was ripped in a number of places and there were wounds visible on his knee thigh, arm and hand.
He will be there to defend his title, but whether he'll be at his best after the crash in Nokere remains to be seen,
The crash obviously had a huge impact on my body. With a lot of abrasions and a few stitches, it won't be easy, but I want to give it a shot.
