Glasner speaks on Mateta's failed Milan move and confirms knee issue: "Since November"
"There were rumours that Jean-Philippe Mateta had a knee issue before AC Milan found it, and those suggestions were confirmed by Oliver Glasner. The move for Mateta seemed to be happening at the last minute, with Milan looking to get a deal done quickly, having swooped in late. Things seemed to be progressing well too, and then the medical arrived."
"Mateta had a knee issue since November. He wanted to keep playing, so we managed it. Mateta told us he would like to leave. AC Milan assessed him and decided not to sign Jean-Philippe. We will have further assessments to really find the best solution."
Jean-Philippe Mateta attracted late transfer interest from AC Milan but the deal collapsed following medical checks that revealed a knee issue. Initial checks took place in London and Milan later sent their own doctor for further examination. With the knee concern, AC Milan withdrew and Mateta remains in the Premier League. Oliver Glasner confirmed the knee issue has been present since November and said the club managed it while Mateta continued playing and pursued a move. Crystal Palace plan further assessments to determine the best solution and monitor any possible need for surgery.
