GdS: Supercoppa Italiana at risk - Milan anxiously await results of Leao's scan
"AC Milan celebrated going back top of Serie A with a comeback win over Torino, but Rafael Leao's injury added a sour note. As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recall this morning, Leao was forced off the pitch in the 31st minute of the first half with a muscle problem in his right adductor. It came after he took a shot from distance, attempting to repeat Adrien Rabiot's rocket that had made it 2-1."
"The Portuguese forward left the stadium yesterday limping and with a grim expression on his face. He will undergo all the necessary tests today to determine the extent of his injury and, more importantly, his recovery time. Milan are hopeful that it's nothing serious and that he'll be available for the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final against Napoli on December 18th (the potential final is scheduled for December 22nd against either Inter or Bologna), but the current feeling is far from positive."
"Complicating matters further is the poor form of their potential replacements, Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku. Both the Mexican and the Frenchman have scored just one goal so far this season, and it came in the Coppa Italia. The former has been sidelined for over a month with an ankle injury, while the latter continues to deliver disappointing performances. Christian Pulisic's return in a positive, though."
AC Milan climbed back to the top of Serie A with a comeback win over Torino, but Rafael Leao left in the 31st minute with a right adductor muscle problem after a long-range attempt. Leao limped out of the stadium and will undergo tests to determine injury severity and recovery time. Hopes remain for availability in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final on December 18th, but current expectations are pessimistic. A likely absence would force Milan to rely on Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku, who have each scored only once this season, while Christian Pulisic has returned positively.
