Bluesky's Blue Check Is Finally Here
Bluesky, the social platform that quickly gained popularity since its public launch in early 2024, is rolling out a new verification system featuring blue check marks reminiscent of Twitter's. Previously relying on self-verification through custom domains, the platform will now formally identify notable accounts for verification. Priority will be given to government officials, journalists, and celebrities to combat impersonation. CEO Jay Graber emphasized the importance of creating a trustworthy environment, reflecting a growing need for verified accounts in the face of rising impersonation issues.
"It'll be a rolling process as the feature stabilizes, and then we'll launch a public form that people can use to request verification," says CEO Jay Graber.
"We want to reduce fraud and impersonation and drive a more trustworthy environment on Bluesky," Graber says.
